First European platform brings together practical experiences of robotic milking and grazing from ten countries

European platform for exchange

Today, a new European online platform was launched where dairy farmers from ten countries can exchange practical experiences on the combination of robotic milking and grazing. The platform was set up by and for dairy farmers and focuses on daily practice: www.robotgrazing.eu

In more and more European countries, dairy farmers are working with milking robots, while  grazing remains an important issue. In practice, the combination of automatic milking and grazing requires choices to be made and solutions to be devised for cow traffic, grass management and robot occupancy. Until now, much of this knowledge has remained local and fragmented. With the new digital platform, practical experience can now be shared across borders.

The platform thus represents a new form of knowledge sharing in dairy farming. Not through reports, advice or models, but through the daily practical choices of colleagues. Precisely because farms differ in terms of climate, regulations and business set-up, it becomes clear how colleagues in other countries deal with the same issues and what works in practice or, conversely, what does not work.

Dairy farmers can post their own contributions to the platform in the form of short practical stories, photographs, videos, tips, questions, statements and responses. Everything can be entered in the user's own language. The platform uses an automatic translation function, so that all data is immediately visible in the user's own language. This makes participation accessible.

The initiative has been deliberately set up as an independent platform. There is no room for product promotion, commercial advice or sponsored content. The platform is not a marketplace or an advisory service, but a digital think tank and workplace for collegial exchange between professionals. The announcement and further roll-out of the platform in other European countries will be done through agricultural trade media and farmers' organisations in the participating countries.

The platform is available to dairy farmers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, France, Ireland, Italy, Austria and Switzerland and will initially run until the end of 2027. Participation is free of charge and without obligation. Dairy farmers can read, respond or post their own contributions.

The platform is available at www.robotgrazing.eu
