Meeting on robotic milking and grazing: what works for your farm?

News item’

How do other dairy farmers combine robotic milking with pasture access? And what ideas can you take back to your own farm? You’ll get the answers to these questions at the Robot & Grazing event!

On Thursday, November 19, the "Robot & Weiden? Voor Elkaar!" (Robots & Grazing? Working Together!) project is organizing a national practical meeting at Weidevol in Zwartsluis. It is a day designed for dairy farmers and other interested parties involved in combining robotic milking with pasture access.

**Focus on fellow farmers' experiences**

We kick off the day with practical insights from dairy farmer ambassadors regarding robots and grazing. They will share how they organize robotic milking and pasture access on their farms and reflect on the past season—discussing what worked well and the challenges they encountered.

Next, it’s time for hands-on activity. During two workshop rounds, you can choose the topics that best align with your farm and interests.

The first round focuses on specific themes; you can choose from:
● Economics & farm choices – What economic lessons can we learn from the Irish dairy sector?
● Recording systems & Collie – What can you measure and manage regarding robotic milking and grazing?
● Nitrogen & farm choices – What impact can grazing have on nitrogen levels on my farm?

The second round is entirely practical. Using three different farm scenarios, dairy farmers and grazing coaches will discuss choices, challenges, and solutions. Topics will include grazing combined with high production, as well as more extensive farming methods with long grazing hours and the Irish grazing approach.

We will conclude the day together with a live recording of the *VeeteeltGRAS* podcast. In this session, we bring together the day's key takeaways and look back at the 2026 grass and pasture season. Make sure to join us!
